Today we installed this first sculpture at Bold Venture Park in Darwen. Entitled "Huntington's Parlor", it celebrates the life and work of wallpaper designer James Huntington. The chair features elements of his designs from the mid 19th Century, which are now kept at the V& A in London.
Cut from 6mm thick Corten Steel sheet, which will develop a rusty surface only, it plays with scale at 2x conventional furniture size, and was developed from a paper maquette. It still has an almost origami feel to it.
In charge of the installation were Martin and Carl from Luke Lister's. John, Martyn and Immy lended invaluable muscle and help.
Martyn, usually so tall, literally dwarfed by the sculpture.
This looks great Marjan. Perfect situation. Needs tea and custard creams
